Brownsville is a city situated in Edmonson County, Kentucky. As of 2010, the city has a population of approximately 836 people according to the United States Census Bureau. The city is part of the Bowling Green Metropolitan Area and is the county seat of Edmonson County. The county was formed in 1825 and is named in honor of Captain John Edmondson, a veteran of the War of 1812.
