Franklin, Kentucky is a city situated in Simpson County. The city was home to about 8,400 people in 2010 according to the United States Census Bureau. Franklin was formally incorporated as a city in 1820 and is named in honor of Benjamin Franklin. The city’s first post office was established on September 29th, 1822.

Franklin is home to many points of interest that range from historic sites to restaurants that serve delicious food. Individuals who enjoy horse racing will enjoy visiting the Kentucky Downs Race Course, located on the Kentucky and Tennessee borders in Franklin. The courthouse was built in 1882 and was still in use until 2004 when the Franklin Justice Center was constructed.
